Beach Volleyball and Words I Like May 29, 2008

Filed under: Things I Like — Jenn @ 11:04 pm

Every Thursday, I play beach volleyball at urban rec on a work team - they really put the urban into it, as it is basically an empty lot that they’ve trucked sand to. We really aren’t that good, but we have tons of fun and down a couple of drinks. I had to cut this week short though because my foot started killing me. I was on crutches till Monday with a fracture in my foot. It was feeling a lot better, but still sore - I am now realizing that playing volleyball is far from the smartest move I’ve made today.

nancy (aka money coach) Says:

that is hilarious! - the word thing I mean — umm, what does Googlewhack mean? And while I can see why sy____y would be Verboten, why stymie? I think stymie’s a kinda cool word. Am I a loser for thinking that?

mattkirkey Says:

douchebag is one of my all-time favs (and one of my most frequently used ones (and its derivatives - douche, douchey)

mattkirkey Says:

Also - magma and FACE. FACE is said in a dismissive / aggressive tone.

Jenn Says:

@moneycoach Stymie reminds us of something oozing and pussy. Just kinda gross. A couple people have liked that one…just reminds me of nasty things.

@mattkirkey At the office we use the term douchebag at its derivatives all the time. If the word wasn’t so awesome it would totally be overused.

Beau Says:

“Gauche.” Has class when you use it, shows smarts and sophistication.

Jordan Says:

I’ve always been a fan of “cocksure.” I don’t use it a lot, but I’m a fan.

And I’ve just coined my own term, “tweepeating,” which is when you post something to Twitter several times by accident (usually because the load time is so slow).

Tweetpeating FTW!

Jenn Says:

@jordan I’ve seen you use tweetpeating on twitter and I like it…we should definitely add that to out twitter vocab.

You need to use cocksure in a sentence so I know how to use it:)

nick Says:

I’d love to see aquatical (is that even a word?), douchebag, and NKOTB used in the same sentence. That would be stupendous.

I’m assuming that variants like “douchebaggery” are allowed too?

Raul Says:

uber is definitely in my magma vocab now.
